Nonnegotiable Prayer

I am praying to you because I know you will answer, O God. Bend down and listen as I pray. Psalm 17:6

You must resolve this issue.

Do you believe that God answers your prayers? Do you even believe that God listens to you when you talk to Him?

Most of us have misconceptions about prayer. Some of us have been taught that God only listens to very important requests or to very important people. Some of us have been told not to bother God with repeated requests. Many of us are very haphazard in how often we pray or what we really believe about prayer—so we don’t pray effectively, passionately, consistently, or with power.

My Christian life dramatically improved when I searched for all the verses in the Bible that contained the words ask, believe, and pray. I realized that if I acted like I believed half of what the Bible said about prayer—I’d be living on the edge of excitement and adventure!

I discovered that Jesus was all about, all over prayer! He often went alone to talk to the Father to be restored and refreshed, as well as to receive counsel before making decisions. He taught His disciples how to talk and listen to the Father. Prayer was simply nonnegotiable in His life— is it in yours?
